Greetings Everyone, This is our first use of the website's email
distribution system. All of us are receiving an influx of information on
how to help in Haiti. Most of it involves monetary donations, but Week of
Compassion and Church World Service have some "hands on" things we can
participate in. In addition to our prayers and our cash donations - most
effective in providing quick and on-going relief - Church World Service
reports they quickly depleted their stock of hygiene and baby care kits
that they distribute in catastrophic situations. Purchasing supplies,
putting the kits together and mailing them to Church World Service with a
cash donation to facilitate in their distribution is a hands-on way for
churches to respond. Sometimes people just want to come together to "do"
something!
And this is a good project for all ages, children to seniors.
More information about supplying these kits can be found

Denise Hamilton, in coordination with Chris Smith and our Outreach
Ministries is prepared to organize our local effort to help. Our goal is
150 kits. That will need to include a monetary offering to offset the
processing costs for CWS and mailing costs (which could be substantial).
Please be watching your email for further updates on this project and make
contact with Denise Hamilton if you have questions on what to purchase or
want to help assemble the kits. Denise can be reached at
storyspeaks at yahoo.com [2] or 271-5116. Thanks Denise and our Outreach
Ministry for making this happen! In Christ, Laurie
